ED MEMO NO. 004 FY 2024-2025 DATE: July 8, 2024 TO: The Members of PICPA RE: Update on PICPA’s appeal for the lifting of suspension of its accreditation as CPD Provider This is to officially update PICPA members on the action taken by PICPA National President Atty Roland C. Pondoc and his Board of Directors on the suspension issued by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) per recommendation of the Board of Accountancy CPD Council to PICPA as an accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provider. A formal appeal was sent to the Chairman and members of the Professional Regulatory Board of Accountancy (PRBOA) requesting for their kind reconsideration for reasons stated in a letter signed by President Pondoc dated June 29, 2024. As per PRC update, the appeal was transmitted by the PRBOA to the PRC on July 4, 2024 and was referred to the CPD Council for Accountancy for review and further instructions on July 5, 2024, as the authority and power to decide is vested to the Council pursuant to Section 8, Rule II of Republic Act No. 10912 or the “CPD Act of 2016”. In the meantime, we request all chapters to continue conducting seminars and webinars. However, the events will have to be classified as Self-Directed Learning (SDL), i.e., the members will have to individually apply with CPDAS to earn their CPD units. We will issue a subsequent memo regarding the SDL application process. Our National President requested for a dialogue with the Chair and Members of the CPD Council ensuring that all the issues raised will be addressed positively. During these trying times, with humility in our hearts, let us pray that the concerns will be resolved favorably.
