August 14-21, 2023

By: Christian Magbanua, CPA

Every year, the Philippines witnesses a show of togetherness as groups and communities unite to take part in Brigada Eskwela, a nationwide initiative focuses on getting public schools ready for the year. Embodying the spirit of volunteerism, the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Negros Oriental Chapter partnered with NORECO II made an impact by organizing their Brigada Eskwela event, at West City Elementary School on August 21, 2023. This event went beyond cleaning and repairs, it showcased the strength of effort and the dedication of individuals and organizations to uplift their communities.

The day started off with excitement as volunteers from PICPA Negros Oriental Chapter and NORECO 2 gathered at West City Elementary School. They came prepared with brooms, sacks, chain saw and a strong desire to make an impact.

Their mission was clear: to make a difference in two significant ways. First, they aimed to tidy up the school grounds, and second, they were committed to resolving important electrical issues. The transformation that followed was truly remarkable as the messy school ground swiftly burst into renewed vitality. This initiative aimed not to improve the environment of the school but also to create an inspiring atmosphere, for both teachers and students.

The reason why Brigada Eskwela was successful is because everyone involved works together. The PICPA Negros Oriental Chapter teamed up with NORECO 2, joined forces to create a sense of unity and shared responsibility. They achieved more than just fixing up the school; they built a strong community and shared a common goal, highlighting the importance of working together to nurture and educate children.

The positive impacts of the PICPA Negros Oriental Chapter's participation in Brigada Eskwela extend beyond the school; they also touch the lives of the students who will enjoy a better learning environment. A supportive atmosphere can ignite the imaginations of these young minds and motivate them to chase their aspirations. Through their contributions of time, hard work, and resources to the school, the volunteers have indirectly contributed to the community's future, laying the foundation for a more promising tomorrow.

The PICPA Negros Oriental Chapter's participation in Brigada Eskwela serves as a powerful call to action, reminding us of our duty as responsible citizens to contribute to the betterment of our society. Whether it's in the realm of education, volunteer work, or community development, each of us has a role to play in making positive changes. The success of this event demonstrates the strength of working together, inspiring others to

join and be a part of the transformative movement that Brigada Eskwela represents. Through unity and a shared sense of purpose, we can help build a stronger and more

vibrant future for the Philippines, one school at a time.
